ServiceNow support for your COVID-19 response
COVID-19 has forced us into a new normal. On good days and bad, ServiceNow continues to live out its purpose and
focus on doing what’s right for our customers and the world.
The four emergency response apps were created with great speed and agility in early March, to help its customers and
partners manage complex crisis management workflows. Given the need to create new workflows fast, when they were
needed most, ServiceNow recognized that many customers and partners would also want to create their COVID-related
apps on the Now Platform.
Washington State’s Department of Health, a ServiceNow customer, initially created the Emergency Response Operations
app on the Now Platform to manage their response to COVID 19. Working with ServiceNow, the Department of Health is
making the app available to all government entities at no charge. In addition to this app, ServiceNow has developed
and introduced three, free of charge community apps to benefit all customers.

local government agencies to optimize their resources in critical locations during emergencies such as the
COVID-19 pandemic or other events. This application automates the role assignment and resource activation
during the incident planning process.• Key Features

the event of an emergency. This requires the coordination of divisional and field resources across locations
and incidents. This application enables administrators in both the central command center and field offices
to coordinate how to assign, schedule, and activate resources down to the employee, activity, and day. It
can also be used by other organizations that need to manage response resources. This application:
- Enables Resource Unit Leaders (RESLs) and deputies to develop incident staffing plans
- Streamlines position assignments by location, dates, and expertise
- Provides a centralized view of staffing status and schedule (requested, accepted)
- Allows automatic assignments and shadowing
- Automates resource activation through emails, eliminating phone calls
- Supports generally accepted federal standards
The app is one of the ServiceNow Emergency Response Management apps built on the Now Platform® to assist organizations in their emergency response efforts.
